What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.
How long they last depends on where you apply them, on your daily activities and on how hydrated your skin is.
The ink fades gradually as your skin renews itself naturally.
Here is an estimate of how long they hold, area by area:
🦵 Leg: day 1 to 5 (very dark colour), then day 6 to 12 (colour fading).

Temporary dragon tattoo sleeve: test a full arm design
The dragon arm tattoo is one of the most iconic designs in traditional, Japanese and tribal tattooing. Before committing to a 10-hour session costing far more, more and more people choose to live with the design for 10 to 14 days using a temporary tattoo. This full sleeve format (17 x 49 cm) is built to cover the entire arm from shoulder to wrist, exactly like real ink work.
What does a dragon tattoo mean?
In Asian traditions, the dragon symbolises protection, inner strength and longevity. Unlike the Western dragon associated with destruction, the Japanese Ryū and Chinese dragon represent wisdom, good luck and self-mastery. Wearing this totem on your arm is a way to connect with these archetypes of power and resilience.
The dragon sleeve is especially popular among those who want a bold, visible and narrative design. The serpentine form wrapping around the arm evokes transformation and vital energy, a motif that carries weight, which is exactly why testing it first makes sense.
Where to place a temporary dragon sleeve tattoo?
This XXL format (17 x 49 cm) is optimised for the full arm: inner or outer face, shoulder to wrist. It can also work on the leg or back depending on your build. Most common placements:
- Full arm sleeve: the signature placement, from bicep to wrist
- Forearm only: for a subtler result, visible when rolling up sleeves
- Thigh or calf: ideal for summer, festivals or holidays
- Back or shoulder: for maximum graphic impact
Which occasions call for a dragon temporary tattoo?
This dragon sleeve tattoo suits a wide range of occasions:
- Testing before a permanent tattoo: living with the design for 10 to 14 days is the smartest way to validate a lifelong decision
- Festival or event: concerts, themed parties, cosplay, the sleeve looks like the real deal
- Beach holidays: fully waterproof, it holds up in water and sun
- Halloween or cosplay: ultra-realistic render for an immersive costume
- Original gift: perfect for fans of Japanese culture, fantasy or body art
How to apply and care for this temporary tattoo?
Application takes 5 minutes: clean dry skin, press the tattoo face-down, hold a damp sponge on it for 30 seconds, peel the backing off. The design appears immediately. To extend wear:
- Avoid exfoliants and oils on the area for the first few days
- Pat dry after showering, never rub
- Heavy perspiration on friction zones can speed up fading
To remove: apply vegetable oil (coconut, sweet almond) or acetone-free nail polish remover. The ink lifts cleanly with no residue.
What does a temporary dragon sleeve tattoo cost? For this temporary sleeve tattoo, see the price on this page. For comparison, a permanent dragon sleeve costs far more and takes 10 to 20 hours in the studio chair. The temporary option is not a compromise: it is a smart decision step. The ink used is vegan, free from black henna (PPD) and compliant with EU cosmetic regulations. No known allergy risk with CE-compliant formulas.
FAQ : temporary dragon tattoo
How long does a temporary dragon tattoo last?
This sleeve tattoo lasts between 10 and 14 days depending on skin type, placement zone and aftercare habits. That is noticeably longer than competitor products which claim 3 to 10 days.
What is the price of a temporary dragon tattoo?
See the price of this dragon totem sleeve on this page. The market range for temporary tattoos varies depending on format. For an XXL sleeve size like this one (17x49 cm), see the price on this page.
Is a temporary tattoo safe?
Temporary tattoos that comply with European standards (no PPD or black henna) carry no specific risks. Avoid low-quality products, especially black henna tattoos found at tourist markets. Always test a small area first if you have sensitive skin.
Why choose a dragon tattoo on the arm?
The dragon symbolises protection, strength and longevity in Asian traditions. The sleeve is one of the most visually powerful placements: it turns the arm into a wearable work of art. It also expresses a connection to Japanese or Chinese culture, or to the world of fantasy.
How much does a permanent dragon sleeve tattoo cost?
A studio dragon sleeve costs far more, depending on the artist and design complexity, requiring 10 to 20 hours in the chair. Testing with a temporary tattoo before that commitment is a rational precaution.
Does a dragon tattoo bring good luck?
In Asian cultures (Japanese, Chinese and Korean) the dragon is a symbol of luck, prosperity and good fortune. This is one of the main reasons the dragon remains one of the most widely chosen tattoo motifs globally, beyond its powerful graphic aesthetic.
