What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.

Temporary Polynesian sleeve tattoo: wear the design for 10 to 14 days before you decide
A permanent Polynesian sleeve tattoo on the forearm takes 10-12 hours of sitting and costs far more at a professional tattoo studio. Before making that commitment, a temporary sleeve lets you check whether the design, size, and placement truly suit your skin, your daily life, and your style over 10 to 14 days of real wear.
The InkToday Polynesian Maelström design covers 17 x 49 cm. That dimension wraps the full male forearm from wrist to elbow. The geometric spirals draw from Maori warrior tattoo traditions, historically placed on the arm to signal resilience, rank, and courage. Wearing this motif, even temporarily, shows you exactly what a bold visual identity feels like day to day.
When to wear a temporary Polynesian sleeve
The occasions are real and specific. A music festival, a trip to French Polynesia or the Caribbean, a stag do, a photo shoot, or simply testing how this style works with your wardrobe before booking a tattoo appointment. The temporary sleeve also fits into the wider cultural conversation around Polynesian tattooing: wearing it for a few days lets you decide whether you truly connect with it before any permanent step.
Composition and safety
The ink is vegan and compliant with EU cosmetic standards. It contains zero black henna, a substance flagged by European consumer protection authorities for causing severe allergic reactions. Application takes 5 minutes, the hold is waterproof, and the design fades naturally over 10 to 14 days.
What is the price of a Polynesian sleeve tattoo?
The price of a permanent half-sleeve (shoulder to elbow) is far higher, for 10-12 hours of work (Source: Mystery Tattoo Club, 2024). A small wrist tattoo costs far more. The Maelström Polynesian temporary sleeve is available at the price of a risk-free trial.
FAQ
How long does a temporary sleeve tattoo last?
A correctly applied temporary tattoo lasts 10 to 14 days depending on the body area and application care. It fades gradually as the skin naturally renews itself.
What does a Polynesian tattoo on the arm mean?
In Polynesian and Maori tradition, arm tattoos signify resilience, protection, and courage. Maori warriors covered the full forearm to display their rank, bravery, and achievements.
Can a non-Polynesian wear a Polynesian tattoo design?
A temporary tattoo is a respectful way to explore this motif without permanent cultural appropriation. It lets you evaluate both the meaning and the aesthetic before any lasting decision.
What are the risks of temporary tattoos?
The main risk comes from black henna, which contains PPD and can cause chemical burns. This product contains no black henna: vegan ink only, fully compliant with EU cosmetic standards.
How do you apply a temporary sleeve tattoo?
Place the printed side on clean, dry skin, press a damp cloth over it for 30 seconds, then peel back carefully. The full application takes under 5 minutes. Avoid high-friction zones for better hold.
How does the price of a temporary sleeve compare to a permanent one?
A permanent half-sleeve costs far more. The Maelström Polynesian temporary sleeve lets you test the exact design and placement for less than the price of a single hour with a tattoo artist.
