What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.
How long they last depends on where you apply them, on your daily activities and on how hydrated your skin is.
The ink fades gradually as your skin renews itself naturally.
Here is an estimate of how long they hold, area by area:
🦵 Leg: day 1 to 5 (very dark colour), then day 6 to 12 (colour fading).
🦶 Foot: day 1 to 8 (very dark colour), then day 9 to 14 (colour fading).
🦵 Knee: day 1 to 6 (very dark colour), then day 7 to 12 (colour fading).

Temporary phoenix tattoo: wear this symbol of rebirth with zero commitment
The phoenix is one of the most meaningful tattoo motifs that exists. This mythical bird that rises from its ashes embodies resilience, personal transformation, and the ability to rebuild after hardship. Wearing a phoenix tattoo is a powerful statement about who you are. But how do you know this is the right design, in the right spot, before committing forever?
That is exactly what our temporary phoenix tattoo is for. Wear it for 10 to 14 days in real life: in the shower, at the gym, at work, at the beach. See how it feels, how others react, how it fits your body. Then decide.
What does a phoenix tattoo mean?
The phoenix appears across Greek, Egyptian, Chinese (the Fenghuang) and Japanese (the Hou-ou) mythology. Across all traditions, it shares one core symbol: immortality through renewal. The bird consumes itself in flames at the end of its life and rises again, stronger than before.
As a tattoo, this translates into deeply personal meaning: surviving a breakup, recovering from illness, starting a new chapter. The phoenix resonates with both men and women at any age. Its symbolism of strength and resilience is universal, and visually spectacular, with spread wings, flames, and intricate linework.
Where to place a temporary phoenix tattoo?
The 10 x 10 cm format works beautifully on several placements:
- Forearm: the classic spot, visible every day, perfect for a design that carries meaning you want to see regularly
- Shoulder blade or shoulder: more discreet, revealed in summer or sleeveless outfits
- Thigh: a large flat area that shows the full detail of the design
- Arm or chest: for a bolder statement, especially useful if you are planning a permanent large-format tattoo
The temporary tattoo is also the smartest way to test placement before visiting a tattoo artist. You wear the design exactly where you want it, live with it for one to 10 to 14 days, and walk into the studio with certainty.
When to wear a temporary phoenix tattoo?
- A life turning point: after a hard period, a breakup, a career change, the phoenix marks the beginning of a new chapter
- Festivals and events: summer, concerts, parties, strong visual impact without any permanent commitment
- Bachelorette parties or birthdays: original, memorable, and commitment-free for everyone involved
- A meaningful gift: for someone rebuilding their life, few symbols carry more weight than the phoenix
- Testing before going permanent: the smartest use of a temporary tattoo, to avoid regretting a design or placement
Ink composition and care
Our ink is vegan and compliant with EU cosmetic regulations. It contains no PPD (paraphenylenediamine), the substance found in black henna that causes severe allergic reactions. Zero black henna in our formula.
To maximise wear time:
- Apply on clean, dry skin with no cream or oil
- Avoid rubbing the area directly in the first few days
- Pat dry rather than rubbing with a towel
- The tattoo fades naturally in 10 to 14 days depending on your skin type
To remove it early: a few passes with coconut oil or baby oil does the job.
What is the price of a temporary phoenix tattoo?
Temporary phoenix tattoo prices on the market vary from small multi-pack formats to large premium formats. Our phoenix tattoo comes in a 10 x 10 cm size, at mid-range pricing for premium quality.
A permanent phoenix tattoo at a professional studio typically costs far more, depending on size, detail level and studio. The temporary version lets you live the full experience for the price of a restaurant meal.
