What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.
How long they last depends on where you apply them, on your daily activities and on how hydrated your skin is.
The ink fades gradually as your skin renews itself naturally.
Here is an estimate of how long they hold, area by area:
🦵 Leg: day 1 to 5 (very dark colour), then day 6 to 12 (colour fading).
🦶 Foot: day 1 to 8 (very dark colour), then day 9 to 14 (colour fading).
🦵 Knee: day 1 to 6 (very dark colour), then day 7 to 12 (colour fading).

Temporary skull tattoo Dia de los Muertos: wearing Santa Muerte without the needle
The human skull is one of the most symbolically loaded tattoo motifs in the world. In the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos and the Santa Muerte cult, it does not represent death as an ending: it celebrates life, honors ancestors and reminds us that every day counts. Wearing this motif is as much a philosophy as an aesthetic statement.
This temporary skull tattoo reproduces the characteristic Santa Muerte illustration, with its floral ornaments and empty gaze fixed on eternity. The 5x5 cm format fits perfectly on the wrist, ankle, nape of the neck or collarbone. The result: a tattoo that looks permanent, stays waterproof for 10 to 14 days, with no needle and no pain.
What occasions call for a temporary skull tattoo?
This motif is perfect for testing placement before a permanent tattoo, but also for specific occasions: festival, Halloween, bachelorette party, trip to Mexico, photo shoot, costume or simply an impulse that only needs to last as long as you decide. The price of 10€ makes it a risk-free trial, compared to 60-200€ for a permanent tattoo.
The ink is vegan, free from black henna, and certified compliant with European cosmetic standards. Application takes 5 minutes with a damp sponge.
FAQ temporary skull tattoo
How long does a temporary skull tattoo last?
This tattoo lasts 10 to 14 days depending on the body area and skin type. Low-friction zones (nape, shoulder blade, chest) last longer than wrists or hands.
What is the price of a temporary skull tattoo?
This Santa Muerte design starts at 10€. An equivalent permanent tattoo costs between 60 and 200€ at a studio, with no way to undo it if the motif or placement does not feel right.
Are there risks with temporary tattoos?
Temporary tattoos compliant with EU standards are safe on healthy skin. The only real risk involves black henna products (paraphenylenediamine), which are absent from this ink. On sensitive skin, test on a small area before full application.
Do skull tattoos have a negative meaning?
No. In the Dia de los Muertos and Santa Muerte tradition, the human skull symbolizes acceptance of mortality and respect for life. It is a protective and philosophical motif, not a sign of bad luck.
Can this tattoo be applied anywhere on the body?
Yes, except the face and mucous membranes. Best zones for a 5x5 cm tattoo: wrist, nape, ankle, collarbone, forearm.
How do you remove a temporary tattoo before it fades naturally?
Coconut oil or a gentle makeup remover on a cotton pad. The tattoo fades within minutes and leaves no trace.
