What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.
How long they last depends on where you apply them, on your daily activities and on how hydrated your skin is.
The ink fades gradually as your skin renews itself naturally.
Here is an estimate of how long they hold, area by area:
🦵 Leg: day 1 to 5 (very dark colour), then day 6 to 12 (colour fading).
🦶 Foot: day 1 to 8 (very dark colour), then day 9 to 14 (colour fading).
🦵 Knee: day 1 to 6 (very dark colour), then day 7 to 12 (colour fading).

Temporary lotus flower tattoo: purity and oriental inspiration on your skin
The temporary lotus flower tattoo combines Oriental aesthetics with the freedom of the ephemeral. This 7.2 x 2.5 cm design faithfully reproduces the stem and petals of the lotus, a symbol of resilience in Buddhist and Hindu traditions. You get a realistic result with no salon appointment, no pain, and no long-term commitment.
How to apply and make your temporary lotus tattoo last?
Place the tattoo printed side down on clean, dry skin, press a damp cloth over it for 30 seconds, then gently peel away the backing. The design lasts 10 to 14 days if you avoid repeated rubbing and prolonged water exposure. No oil or cream on the area for the first few days to maximise hold.
Where to place a lotus flower tattoo with stem?
The elongated 7.2 x 2.5 cm format works especially well on the inner wrist, nape of the neck, collarbone or ankle. The vertical stem naturally follows the body's lines and creates a clean, elegant graphic effect. For a more discreet look, the inner arm or lower back are also excellent placements.
Frequently asked questions about temporary lotus flower tattoos
What does a lotus flower tattoo mean?
The lotus flower symbolises purity, rebirth and spiritual awakening. In Buddhist and Hindu traditions, it represents the ability to rise above hardship, just as the flower emerges pristine from muddy water. Choosing this design means wearing a symbol of resilience and inner harmony recognised across many cultures.
How long does an InkToday temporary lotus tattoo last?
The tattoo lasts 10 to 14 days depending on body placement and lifestyle. Areas with little friction, like the collarbone or nape, offer the best hold. Repeated water exposure, greasy creams and tight clothing reduce longevity. By applying carefully and avoiding these factors, 14 days is very achievable.
Is the temporary tattoo safe for skin?
InkToday ink is plant-based and formulated without ammonia or irritating substances. It is dermatologically tested. If you have very reactive or sensitive skin, a patch test on a small area is recommended before full application. People who react to synthetic inks generally find our gentle formula works well for them.
Can I remove a temporary lotus tattoo before the 14 days are up?
Yes, the tattoo comes off easily with coconut oil, olive oil or an oil-based makeup remover. Apply the product over the design, massage gently in circles and rinse off. The tattoo disappears within minutes without leaving a mark or irritating the skin.
Is the lotus flower tattoo suitable for all skin types?
Temporary tattoos work on most skin tones. Results may vary slightly depending on complexion and skin hydration. On very dry skin, light moisturising 24 hours before application improves adhesion. On darker skin, fine details still show up clearly thanks to InkToday's pigmented ink.
What is the difference between a temporary tattoo and a henna tattoo?
A temporary tattoo like this one works by transferring ink onto the skin surface without penetration. The result is immediate and looks like a real tattoo. Natural henna stains the top layer of skin and takes several hours to reveal its colour. A temporary tattoo delivers more precise results and finer details, like this oriental-inspired lotus flower with stem.
