What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.
How long they last depends on where you apply them, on your daily activities and on how hydrated your skin is.
The ink fades gradually as your skin renews itself naturally.
Here is an estimate of how long they hold, area by area:
🦵 Leg: day 1 to 5 (very dark colour), then day 6 to 12 (colour fading).
🦶 Foot: day 1 to 8 (very dark colour), then day 9 to 14 (colour fading).

What does a Hakuna Matata tattoo mean?
Hakuna Matata comes from Swahili and literally translates to "there are no problems" or "no worries." Getting this phrase tattooed is choosing a daily reminder to let go, embrace simplicity, and carry lightness with you. The tattoo embodies a life philosophy as much as a nod to a childhood shaped by The Lion King.
Beyond the Disney reference, the expression is used daily in Kenya, Tanzania, and across East Africa. Wearing this tattoo is also grounding yourself in authentic African wisdom passed down orally through generations.
Where should you place a Hakuna Matata script tattoo for the best result?
The format of this tattoo (2 x 3.9 cm) is designed for areas where the skin is thin and not subject to heavy friction. Inner wrist, ankle, behind the ear, or collarbone: these placements guarantee optimal hold and maximum legibility of the script.
Avoid areas prone to heavy sweating or frequent friction (palms, inner elbows, feet) to preserve the tattoo's longevity up to 14 days.
How do you apply and care for your temporary Hakuna Matata tattoo?
Application takes 30 seconds: moisten the chosen area, press the tattoo printed side down against the skin, wait 30 seconds, then gently peel off the paper. The result is instant. To extend wear, avoid rubbing when cleansing and limit applying oils or creams directly over the design.
To remove the tattoo, a vegetable oil or micellar gel is all you need. No residue, no irritation.

What does "Hakuna Matata" mean in English?
Hakuna Matata is a Swahili expression meaning "no worries" or "no problem." Literally, "hakuna" means "there is no" and "matata" means "problems" or "worries." Yes. The ink used is dermatologically certified, free from ammonia and para-phenylenediamine (PPD), the substance responsible for most allergic reactions in temporary tattoos. What size is the InkToday Hakuna Matata tattoo?
