What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.
How long they last depends on where you apply them, on your daily activities and on how hydrated your skin is.
The ink fades gradually as your skin renews itself naturally.
Here is an estimate of how long they hold, area by area:
🦵 Leg: day 1 to 5 (very dark colour), then day 6 to 12 (colour fading).
🦶 Foot: day 1 to 8 (very dark colour), then day 9 to 14 (colour fading).
🦵 Knee: day 1 to 6 (very dark colour), then day 7 to 12 (colour fading).

Temporary writing tattoo: wear your words without lifelong commitment
Text tattoos are among the most requested designs at tattoo studios. A name, a word that resonates, a phrase that carries you through hard days: lettering on skin feels deeply personal. The challenge is that a permanent lettering tattoo is also one of the hardest to fix if you change your mind about the font, placement, or the message itself.
The temporary writing tattoo exists for exactly this reason. You wear the word on your skin for 10 to 14 days, you see how it integrates into your daily life, how it holds up, whether you love it in the morning as much as the evening you applied it. It's the test-drive for your future text tattoo.
Meaning and history of writing tattoos
Writing tattoos have existed for centuries across cultures. In Western tattooing, lettering became widespread in the 1990s with Latin quotes, names, and dates. Today the trend is minimalist: one strong word, a fine typeface, placed on the wrist or forearm. The Change motif fits this tradition perfectly. Short, powerful, universal, it speaks to movement and transformation. Worn as a temporary, it literally embodies what it means.
Where to place a temporary writing tattoo?
The 1 x 5 cm format of the Change tattoo is designed for slim, discreet placements:
- Forearm: the classic lettering spot, visible when you want it, covered when you don't
- Wrist: ideal for a short word, visible with every hand movement
- Ankle: discreet daily, revealed in summer or at events
- Nape or behind the ear: for a personal message, semi-hidden
When to wear a temporary text tattoo?
The temporary writing tattoo fits dozens of situations: testing placement before booking a tattoo appointment, bachelorette parties where each guest wears a chosen word, festivals where you want a coherent look without a permanent commitment, a thoughtful gift for someone curious about tattooing, or simply a week where you want to carry a powerful word without it being forever.
Composition and safety
The Change temporary tattoo uses vegan ink formulated without black henna. Black henna often contains paraphenylenediamine (PPD), which can cause severe allergic reactions. InkToday tattoos comply with EU cosmetic regulations (EC 1223/2009), ensuring a formulation free of listed allergens.
How to apply and remove a temporary writing tattoo?
Application takes about 5 minutes. Dampen the skin, press the tattoo face-down, hold a wet cloth over it for 30 seconds, then peel off the film. The tattoo lasts 10 to 14 days depending on placement and care. To remove it earlier, coconut oil or alcohol-based remover works quickly.
