What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.
How long they last depends on where you apply them, on your daily activities and on how hydrated your skin is.
The ink fades gradually as your skin renews itself naturally.
Here is an estimate of how long they hold, area by area:
🦵 Leg: day 1 to 5 (very dark colour), then day 6 to 12 (colour fading).
🦶 Foot: day 1 to 8 (very dark colour), then day 9 to 14 (colour fading).
🦵 Knee: day 1 to 6 (very dark colour), then day 7 to 12 (colour fading).
💪 Forearm: day 1 to 6 (very dark colour), then day 7 to 12 (colour fading).
💪 Shoulder: day 1 to 7 (very dark colour), then day 8 to 14 (colour fading).

Temporary anchor tattoo with rope: maritime symbol, zero commitment
The anchor with rope motif is one of the most meaningful designs in maritime tattooing heritage. Born in 18th-century ports, it symbolises stability, strength and attachment to core values: family, loyalty, staying the course. Sailors wore it as a talisman against drifting. Today it appeals equally to ocean lovers and anyone seeking a personal grounding symbol.
The rope coiled around the shank deepens the symbolism: the bond that holds, the line that never breaks. This detail transforms a classic anchor into a narrative motif, instantly recognisable in the traditional old-school style.
Where to place this temporary anchor tattoo?
The 5.2 x 5.2 cm format suits several placements. The inner wrist is the classic for maritime tattoos: visible, discreet under a sleeve, evocative every day. The forearm remains the prime spot for anchor motifs on both men and women. The neck and ankle work well for a bolder statement.
Perfect occasions to test this design: a summer by the sea, a festival, a nautical-themed hen party, a sailing weekend, or simply the desire to live with the anchor for 10 to 14 days before committing to a permanent tattoo.
How to apply a temporary anchor tattoo?
Clean and dry the chosen area. Remove the transparent protective film. Press the tattoo ink-side down against the skin, hold a damp cloth over it for 30 seconds, then peel off the backing. The tattoo is immediately visible and waterproof. To extend wear up to 14 days, avoid scrubbing or applying oils to the area. Remove with vegetable oil or gentle makeup remover.
The ink is vegan and compliant with EU cosmetic regulations. It contains no para-phenylenediamine (PPD), the compound responsible for severe allergic reactions linked to black henna. No risk of contact eczema when applied to healthy skin.
What does a temporary anchor tattoo cost? The InkToday anchor with rope tattoo (5.2 x 5.2 cm) starts from 13€. For comparison, a permanent studio tattoo of a similar motif starts around 60€ and easily reaches 150-200€ depending on the artist. A temporary tattoo is the cost of a trial, not a regret.
FAQ
What does an anchor tattoo mean? The anchor symbolises stability, strength and attachment. Rooted in maritime tradition, it represents the bond to land and core values: family, loyalty, staying the course. The rope adds the notion of an unbreakable tie.
How long does an InkToday temporary tattoo last? It lasts 10 to 14 days depending on placement and care. Areas with less friction (shoulder blade, ankle) last longer than the wrist or palm.
Is the temporary tattoo waterproof? Yes. Once applied and dry, the tattoo is waterproof. Swimming in the sea or a pool will not affect the design as long as you avoid scrubbing the area with a cloth or sponge.
What are the risks of a temporary tattoo? The main risk comes from black henna (PPD), which can cause severe eczema. InkToday tattoos are formulated without PPD, compliant with EU cosmetic standards and dermatologically controlled.
What is the symbol of the anchor? The anchor is the oldest of maritime symbols. It has represented hope and stability since early Christianity, and has appeared on French naval uniforms since the late 18th century.
Can I try the design before going permanent? That is exactly the point. Wear it for 10 to 14 days, see how it looks on your skin, how people react, and whether you still love it on day 14. Then decide. No studio appointment, no needle, no lifetime commitment.
