What's in the kit?
Every InkToday tattoo ships in its protective sleeve, with an application guide to help you put it on.
How do I apply my tattoo?
Our tattoos are painless and very easy to apply yourself – it only takes a few simple steps.
Follow the application guide supplied with your tattoo, or watch our video tutorial here.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
Your tattoo then stays visible for 10 to 14 days depending on where you apply it on your body, before fading away naturally.
Colour and appearance
Unlike most temporary tattoos, INKTODAY ink bonds to the surface of your skin instead of simply sitting on top of it.
Once applied, the ink reacts with the proteins and the keratin in your skin, and darkens within 24 to 36 hours.
The final result looks like a real tattoo, in a deep blue-black colour.
How long does the tattoo last?
INKTODAY tattoos are designed to fade within 10 to 14 days.
How long they last depends on where you apply them, on your daily activities and on how hydrated your skin is.
The ink fades gradually as your skin renews itself naturally.
Here is an estimate of how long they hold, area by area:
🦵 Leg: day 1 to 5 (very dark colour), then day 6 to 12 (colour fading).
🦶 Foot: day 1 to 8 (very dark colour), then day 9 to 14 (colour fading).
🦵 Knee: day 1 to 6 (very dark colour), then day 7 to 12 (colour fading).

Maori temporary tattoo sleeve: wear the look before you commit
Maori (Polynesian) tattooing is one of the most sought-after styles worldwide. Its geometric interlocking patterns, koru, enata, tiki, pikorua, carry meaning: family, strength, personal journey, protection. The Sentinelle Māori translates these visual codes into a full arm sleeve format (17 x 49 cm), designed to cover the forearm from wrist to elbow.
The sleeve placement is the classic choice for Maori-inspired tattoos: visible, powerful, instantly recognisable. It is also one of the most permanent-feeling placements, which is exactly why testing it first makes sense.
Perfect for: summer festivals, beach holidays, hen parties, gift for a Polynesian culture enthusiast, photo shoots, themed events, or simply living with the design for a week before booking a studio appointment.
Price? A permanent Maori tattoo costs far more at a specialist studio, especially for a full sleeve. The Sentinelle Māori comes with vegan ink, no needles, no pain. It lasts 10 to 14 days depending on your skin type and water exposure.
5-minute application: place the sheet printed-side down on damp skin, press for 30 seconds, peel back gently. Allow 2 minutes to dry. Waterproof from the next day onwards. Ink compliant with EU cosmetic regulations, no black henna, no PPD.
Care: avoid scrubbing and long baths to maximise wear time. Remove with vegetable oil or gentle make-up remover.
FAQ, Maori temporary tattoo
How long does a temporary Maori tattoo last?
Between 10 and 14 days, depending on skin type, placement and water exposure. Areas with less friction (outer forearm) tend to last longest.
What does a real Maori tattoo cost?
A specialist studio costs far more. A full sleeve typically takes 2 to 4 hours and costs far more, depending on the artist and design complexity.
Can you get a Maori tattoo if you are not Maori?
Yes. Kirituhi designs, adapted for non-Maori wearers, allow you to draw on Polynesian aesthetics respectfully, outside of the traditional Ta Moko. A temporary tattoo is by nature a respectful way to explore these visual codes.
How does a temporary tattoo work?
It is a water-transfer decal: place the sheet against damp skin, the design transfers in 30 seconds. No active chemicals, it only reacts with the top layer of the skin.
Are temporary tattoos safe?
Risks are mainly associated with black henna (PPD) found in some beach or market tattoos. Our temporary tattoos contain none: vegan ink, EU-compliant.
Is a Maori tattoo permanent?
A traditional Maori Ta Moko is permanent. This product is a temporary tattoo lasting 10 to 14 days, the ideal way to test the look and placement before making a lifelong decision.
